New junk is up, go see!
Small edit: FrontSide now has its own category in the gallery. Since all the photo-referenced stuff I had was of them, I figured, "oh, why the hell not?" They can have their own spot. If I do any other photo-ref stuff, I'll just make a new category. :3
A note on my goofy boys, Torin and Kage:
I've been playing with the idea of creating a small alternate universe for them in which Kage is a lycanthrope (as he was in his previous universe). I've actually laid out a small, basic plot, and since I can see an ending for this story, whereas their main story is, in ways, never-ending, I'm considering scribbling out a short manga for this alternate universe. (I've already started page roughs... heh heh) Anyhoo, if it interests ye, check back. More news there will be!
...Now, I'm going to address a question that it's pretty likely a lot of people couldn't give a rat's ass about, but which I feel a need to explain. Hopefully, this will serve a purpose more than just to make myself feel better.
The question: why did you choose to draw a gay couple? has been asked of me a couple of times, but I haven't had a decent reply to offer so far. Truth be told, the possibility that most people don't ask, but make assumptions instead, bothers me more than actually being asked. So, if you could care less about my reasons, you can stop reading here; but remember, you'll have no excuse for judging me based on false assumptions. Remember children, to assume makes an ass out of u and me.
Q: 'Why the gay guys?'
To be honest, these two ended up together one day a few years back when I decided to randomly throw together two original (male) characters and see what happened. To make a long story short, I grew so attached to them as a couple that their original storylines were tossed aside, and a story of their own began to unfold. Over time, the two of them have come to mean much more to me than two pretty gay guys, and represent various things I encounter and struggle with in my own life.
Q: 'What do Torin and Kage represent?'
Torin, in essence, is the embodiment of the person I wish I was, and want to be. Why can't he be female? That, I don't know. I do know that I've tried to make that work and it just doesn't. He simply can't be any other way than the way he is.
Kage, in contrast, is a basic representation of the qualities in myself I dislike. There's a lot of him that's unique to his character, partly because of how his relationship with Torin works, but also because if he were the embodiment of everything I dislike about myself, he would have no redeeming qualities. He'd be 100% bona fide bastard.
Their story and their relationship, I've realized, revolves around a central theme: redemption and triumph over personal demons. Torin is, in a certain way, Kage's savior. Not only does Torin keep Kage from his self-destruction, but eventually helps him see the world and himself in a better way. You could call it a happy ending, but I see it more as the achievement of balance and harmony.
So there it is. If necessary, I'll add to this, and maybe add it to Torin and Kage's info page. Otherwise, I'm outta here for now. Peace!
P.S. Y'know that photo I took of our first snow? Less than two weeks later, it looked like THIS. Welcome to Michigan winter, yo!

I was actually wondering about those two boys of yours; just wondering about them in general. Why you drew them, what was their story, etc.

I'm hoping my little explanation will deter people from jumping to conclusions about my art. To me, there's so much more than "omg 2 hawt guyz, lol!!" Most of the time I kinda forget that that's the first thing people will notice. ...Until someone brings it up.

I mean the other day in art, I drew a tree made out of people, naked people. Now we're all Juniors in the class and there was a ridiculous uproar about my picture. Kids wre freaking out about it, and accusing me of drawn porn and crap. And then I just told them, ver calmly, "The picture represents what nature intended us to be; think when we were first born we ave no clothes therefore what nature wanted us to be was naked. It wasn't until man believed it wasn't proper to not have clothes." Haha they stopped their raging after that one and my art teacher started laughing and told me that I needed to work on my human anatomy. P:
But anyways every time I look at Kage and Torin pictures I get a warm fuzzy feeling inside. Everything you described about them and how you put yourself and your opposite into them only adds to the effect. I meant to me from all the pictures I've seen the first reaction was, "Aw they're really cute together... Actually they're just reallly cute." And after looking at a few other pieces I've realized that they depended on each other to liveand their relationship is a lot deeper than I expected. So in essentals to me, your explanations were good, but becuase your work already means a lot for me, the explainations were already there.
God I'm cheesy.
I can relate, having gotten a lot of those types of comments in high school. I drew people kissing, and it was "OMG SEX!" I drew nudes, and it was "OMG PORN!" I also had people tell me repeatedly that my people "look stoned/constipated, lawl!" (WTF??)
Thank you for such an honest and thought-out response. It means more to me than I can say. I'm always glad to know there are people out there who look beyond the surface.

Haha and no problem. :] Haha I mean another way I can relate to this is I always draw my characters male and the way I would want to be if I were a boy. Haha a good friend and I were talking last night and I told her that most of the time I think I was to be a boy than a girl; plus that the fortuneteller told me this was my first reincarnation as a female, how do I feel about it? haha that also applies; slightly. Haha anyways just keep up the work. I love it and you're very inspiring to me. :]
Plus you like Resident Evil. How cooler can you get? I can't wait until RE5 comes out haha I convinced mom to buy a PS3 instead of a Blu-Ray DVD player for dad. Haha
Hahaha! I should see a fortuneteller!
Thanks for the compliments, they make me feel like I must be doing something right. :3
Oh man, someone told me today that a new trailer for RE5 was out, and I still haven't watched it! And I have to get offline soon! CRAAAAP. D: (I'm drooling over a 360, myself, but that's still some nice finagling, there.
...I gotta get out of here, though. It was really nice to meet'cha, hope we can swap comments again sometime.

Yeah the best thing about the male and female thing was the most recent event with a friend. We went to see the new James Bond movie and I was ratting on how much I love Bond and that I grew up with him. He just stood there nodded, and then we watched the movie. Later we get out I tell him that it was good but lacked the James Bond Intellect and he tells me that it's his first Bond movie. Haha a week later I saw Twilight, and then I wanted to gut myself. I call him, tell him how much of a soap opera it was and then he tells me he liked Twilight better than Bond. Haha Sadly I have TONS of girl friends (all in which are girly) and little guy friends; and most of my guy friends arre gay. Haha So sometimes I wonder about myself about what gender I am and then I worry about my friend... who claim's he's straight... Haha
A New one? I'm on to Youtube. :] Haha talk to ya' soon.
